The Baltimore Orioles site reported today that Clay Rapada is expected to be activated before tonight’s game against the Twins. He was a part of the final cuts in the spring, but due to Gonzalez’s problems, he needs to be called up. Gonalez is currently the only lefty in the bullpen and Rapada is a lefty who has pitched 2 scoreless innings for Triple-A Norfolk.
To make room for him on the 25-man roster, Justin Duchscherer is expected to be moved from the 15-day DL to the 60-day DL. Rapada is a pitcher who can only handle a few batters in a game.
In addition to making room for him on the 25-man roster, his contract still needs to be purchased as well to add him to the 40-man roster.
So, let’s see if he makes his debut tonight against the Twins. No offense, but hopefully he doesn’t, or if he does come in, it’s not until late in the game because Tillman really needs a good, strong start tonight going at least 6 innings.
