Bedard Re-Signing With Mariners?
A lot of rumors have been swirling around today about Bedard resigning with the Mariners. Bedard himself said recently that he would love to be back in Seattle with Cliff Lee and Felix Hernandez at the top of the rotation. The contract is apparently one-year $1.5 with a lot of incentives.
I was a huge supporter of bringing back Bedard, so I’m bothered by the news. He would of added depth to our young pitching staff. It would of also gave the organization an opportunity to see what young pitcher isn’t ready yet a few months into the season, send him back down to the minors, and have Bedard put into the rotation when healthy.
I haven’t read anywhere that the signing is official yet, but it will be soon. I was really looking forward to having Bedard back; I guess it just wasn’t meant to be. Although he will most likely be playing us again in a Mariners uniform, I wish him the best of luck.
