I made the drive up from Baltimore to Hanover, Pa for a sports banquet where Mark Hendrickson announced he is resigning with the Orioles. Henderson, 35, came off his best season in his 7 year career. His stats weren’t overwhelming impressive 6-5 with a 4.37 ERA in 53 games. His ERA is much better when you take out his 11 starts last season and only add his appearances at the bullpen.
His deal with the Orioles is reported to be one-year, $1.2 million deal with a $1.2 million team option for 2011. Hendrickson took a slight salary cut from last-season to [...]

Hendrickson Finally Resigns
BirdsWatcher Podcast is Back!
I’m happy to announce the return of the BirdsWatcher Podcast. Lawrence and Isaac will break down the Orioles off-season moves from the trade of Chris Ray to the recent signing of Tejada. The podcast team will also debate over the line-up situation and other hot topics.
As always the show will be live. You will also be able to call into the show at anytime to voice your opinion. Over the summer we had Dean Jones Jr. from the Baltimore Sun join the podcast for almost an hour. We will be working on getting more interviews for upcoming shows. The next [...]

O’s Bring Back Tejada
The Orioles brought back Tejada today after a two year departure. Tejada and the Orioles didn’t exactly leave on great terms, but he has always spoken fondly of the city. I remember an interview a season or two ago about his future and he said that he wouldn’t rule out signing with the Orioles again.
Tejada spent the past two years in Houston and is coming off his best season in three years. Last season Tejada hit .313 with 14 home runs and 86 RBIs in 158 games last. Nobody is exactly sure how old Tejada is, as there have been [...]
The Orioles have contacted Japanese left-handed pitcher Hisanori Takahashi to discuss his price and desire to play in Baltimore. Takahashi has claimed he’s gotten a major league offer, although, he didn’t name the team. To my displeasure, I wouldn’t be surprised if it ended up being the Orioles.
Takahashi will be turning 35 in April, so he’s no young ‘prospect’ type of player. If the Orioles due sign him, he views himself more as a starter than a reliever. Takahashi would probably compete for the starting spot, but will end up as a reliever, which is what the O’s view him as.
He [...]
Scott Avoids Arbitration
Yes, I’m finally back and better than ever!
The Orioles announced today they’ve reached a one-year deal with Luke Scott to avoid arbitration. Scott is expected to make $4.05 million this upcoming season, which is a $2.4 raise from last season. This does not mean that the O’s have stopped shopping around Luke, as it’s still possible they’ll trade him for relief pitching.
They also made an offer to Guthrie, but it doesn’t look like the two sides are close. Although Guthrie had a down year last season, he’s still due for a raise. It could take a few weeks for the [...]
First Base Options
Going into the off-season we all knew the main priority was to fill the vacancies at the corners. Last month, we signed third baseman Garrett Atkins to a one-year deal. Atkins could potentially be starting first basemen, but the Orioles will most likely keep him at third-base. Over the past few weeks some players have been trickling off the boards, so let’s take a look at some of our options still left.
Carlos Delgado- The Orioles are still very interested in Delgado, and have scout sent to following him during the Puerto Rico winter league. It seems as if Delgado [...]
