Lawrence and Isaac will be doing a live show today at 10:00pm EST. Once again they will be covering recent Oriole topics, some good, a lot bad. We’ve had a successfully time against the NL, only losing one series, which was a sweep against the Marlins.
We urge you to please join the chat, and also call into the show and talk with us all things Orioles. You will find the link to the chat room, and also the number to call into the show below. I hop everybody will join in, I’m sure it will once again be another great [...]
Archive for June, 2009
I’m sorry that I haven’t been posting much recently, I’ve been in the process of moving. It’s a very long and tiring process, so I’m sure you all understand. I’ll hopefully be back to normal by the end of July.
To no surprise, Koji was placed on the disabled list with shoulder problems. Hernandez got the start today, he did decent, not great. He also gave up one of the longest homerun balls hit in Camden Yards off Dunns bat.
You have to wonder if Koji will be moved to the bullpen once he comes back. I written a post on this [...]
O’s Make Minor Trade
CLEVELAND (AP)—The Cleveland Indians have traded minor league first baseman Michael Aubrey(notes) to the Baltimore Orioles for a player to be named.
Aubrey was a first-round pick (No. 11 overall) in 2003 but was slowed by injuries during his time with Cleveland. He was batting .292 with five homers and 29 RBIs in 57 games with Triple-A Columbus. The 27-year-old played in 15 games last season for the Indians, batting .200 with two homers.

Aubrey is not all that good as you can tell from his statistics and age. The one thing this trade may do is bring flexibility into the [...]
Mychal Givens Surprised
Second round pick Mychal Givens was surprised that he fell out of the first round and was drafted by the Orioles. Steve Melewski tells us that, and his status for signing a contract with the team on his MASNsports blog.
Givens, a 6′1″, 185 pound shortstop and right-handed pitcher, had not heard much from the O’s in weeks leading up to the draft. But they called his name in round two, with the 54th overall selection.
“It was a little suprising it was the Orioles,” Givens said. “But I’m glad they took me and one day I want to help them win [...]
Sweepin’ Up The Mess
Friday Night: Rich Hill delivers a very good start, and timely hitting guarantees the Orioles a solid victory against a great Phillies team. Might be a bit of a fluke.
Saturday Night: Brad Bergesen is incredible for 6 innings, then runs into trouble in the 7th. He’s replaced by Danys Baez, who allows a spine-pinching home run to Ryan Howard, who’s just the hero off the bench coming in with a fever that landed him in a hospital. The O’s are down by two in the ninth, Gregg Zaun hits a home run, and I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. They [...]
Philadelphia, Meet Baltimore
Better watch out Philly, we’ve been reading the stuff you’re writing about the O’s. The Orioles took the first two in your home stadium, I believe we just properly introduced Baltimore and our superiority to Philadelphia.
For a rebuilding team like the Baltimore Orioles, minor league success is crucial to the team’s future in the major league standings. The O’s have gotten great contributions from various pitching prospects like Brian Matusz, Jake Arrieta, Troy Patton, Chris Tillman, and others.
Going into the season, O’s fans took a look at the minor league starting pitchers for each team. Let’s analyze how those minor leaguers did.
The Aces
Norfolk Tides: Chris Tillman, RHP
After going 11-4 with a 3.18 ERA at Double A Bowie last season, you’d expect fans would be screaming for his name in Baltimore. However, many Orioles diehards saw [...]
So What To Do With Koji
Koji pitched a solid 5 innings today giving up 2 runs and 7 hits. I agree with Trembley’s decision on taking Koji out after the 5th, as he was starting to look winded. My concern, this is his second start back from his injury, and he only lasted 5 innings on a cool night in Baltimore.
With the weather being on the cool side tonight, I thought it would of played in Koji’s favor a little more. It was a little disappointing that he only made it to the 5th and got winded and sluggish that quick. I have to wonder [...]
Wieters and His Arm
At the beginning of the season everybody was stealing on us nonstop. Thankfully, when Wieters was called up that statistic started to change. With all the hype around him and scouts raving about how accurate and strong Wieters arm is, you can understand why base runners are hesitant to try an steal on him. The Tigers challenged Wieters during his first game in a Orioles uniform leading off the game with a bunt. After Wieters got the runner out first, the Tigers and rest the league learned he’s for real.
The Mets are 3rd in the MLB in stolen bases, so [...]
Dean Jones Jr. from the Baltimore Sun will join us on the live podcast today at 7:00pm EST. We have a lot of things to talk about this week ranging from the horrible offensive performance the past few weeks to how we are finally starting to break out of it. It’s been tough watching the team lately but we’ll try to break down and analyze the main reason for teams poor performance.
We will also discuss the Draft, the performances of Matusz, Tillman, Arrieta, Patton, Wieters, Snyder, and Reimold with Dean Jones Jr. who specializes in the Orioles minor league system. [...]
