TORONTO – A day after George Sherrill blew his second save in six opportunities this season, Orioles manager Dave Trembley declined to endorse the All-Star as his full-time closer going forward.
Trembley sidestepped several questions about the closer situation, but said that at least for now it could be a “day-by-day” decision as to who closes that particular game.

I believe almost everybody agrees that Sherrill is not a good closer. I’m happy that Trembley also realizes it, and is going to do something about the problem. Ray has looked fairly good so far, and will be a better closer than Sherrill ever will.
