I’ve been at the O’s games recently, which is the reason I haven’t been posting much. As most of you know, you have to go to the bars after the game. Anyway, it was a great experience to see Wieters first game. It started raining about an hour before game time, but thankfully it was only a 20 minute delay and turned out to be a great evening.
When the lead off hitter laid down a bunt to start off the game, nobody in the stadium expected it. The stadium went crazy every time Wieters stepped up to the plate and [...]

My Wieters Experience
Game Status
So in Matt Wieters’ debut, this game could be rained out. Right now, I’m about 20 minutes outside of the city, and the rain is steady. There have been no updates thus far on the team site or on MLB.com. Roch Kubatko usually has weather updates, as he’s at the yard incredibly early. So far, he’s got nothing, but does have a nice post about Trembley and him answering Wieters questions. Stay updated on one of those sites, I hope that this game doesn’t get rained out. I’ll be leaving for the yard in about 20 minutes, and this rain [...]
Wow, this week is so exciting as an Orioles fan. So, yeah we all know about how the team was down by 5 in the middle of the game, then came back in the 8th and then blew it in the 11th, and then Nolan Reimold hit a 3-run shot to win it, and got pied in his post-game interview. Yeah, all of that’s fine and dandy. But some other things are much, much, much cooler happening this week. Here’s a list, ranked by how excited I am about each event.
MATT WIETERS HAS ARRIVED!!!!! Dos Equis should sign him up [...]
He’s finally coming…multiple readers have emailed that Orioles president Andy MacPhail said on MASN that top prospect Matt Wieters will debut Friday in Baltimore against Dontrelle Willis and the Tigers. Wieters, 23, posted a .285/.367/.482 line in Triple A. He slugged .552 in May.

I am so excited to hear about this during the game from the man himself, Andy Macphail. Wieters has been starting to heat up in the minors, and we can really use his bat now. Our production has not been good from both of the catchers on the 25 man roster, and I’m hoping Wieters will be a [...]
Ouch. And Some Good News
So as you probably already know, today the Orioles lost 8-5. To the Nationals. I repeat, the Nationals. Chris Ray sucked, yet again. I think that he has great stuff, but if you can’t throw strikes and then have to throw fastballs, you’re gonna get killed. It really pisses me off as a fan that the supposed strength of the team, the bullpen is costing the team win after win. Adam Jones was incredible again, and Nick Markakis continued to slump. Brad Bergesen was great at the plate and impressive for most of the game on the mound. But, you [...]
With Eaton’s release made official, the Orioles called up Matt Albers from Triple-A. This creates an open spot in the rotation, like Michael wrote about earlier. The question though, is who will fill it. It seems like the coaching staff doesn’t have much faith in Mark Hendrickson, so let’s discuss some scenarios.
The simplest one: Hendrickson takes the spot
A bit unlikely: Albers is named the starter
This is one of the totally extreme scenarios that I’m about to rattle out: No one fills the spot, and Trembley tries to save the arms in the bullpen. It’s unlikely, but it makes sense.
Also extreme: [...]
Eaton Released?
The No. 24 locker is conspicuous by its absence in the visiting clubhouse at Nationals Park.
Adam Eaton no longer is with the Orioles. An announcement should be coming shortly that he’s been released.
We believe that the Orioles have recalled Matt Albers from Triple-A Norfolk to give them an extra reliever for this series. He hasn’t arrived yet.
No word on who will take Eaton’s spot in the rotation, since we’re still waiting for confirmation on the move. The Orioles could bring up a starter once the turn comes up.

If all of this remains true, than I can not be happier. [...]

Scott Update
Scott hit off a tee yesterday and didn’t feel any pain in his left shoulder, but he still has some stiffness that he’s working out due to the inflammation, which confirms that the Orioles made the right call in placing him on the disabled list. Scott said he has full range of motion, but if his shoulder doesn’t feel as normal as it did before he dived back into first base to beat Joba Chamberlain’s pickoff throw, he shouldn’t be playing.

This is really good news that he will be able to return once he comes off the [...]
We are finally kicking off the BirdsWatcher podcast this week. I am surprised that the show is going live so soon, but this is only the beginning. I plan on having 3 stages to improve the podcast over the next year, and this is only stage one. As time goes on, I hope to bring more guests on the podcast, and have more live interviews. This week Isaac and Lawrence will discuss current events dealing with the Orioles, and the upcoming games. Feel free to call in and voice your opinion.
The show will start at 9:00PM Thursday and should last [...]
