Freel Wants Out

First off, I apologize that I haven’t been updating the blog much this past week, my schedule has been busy. Now, back to what I wanted to get to, Freel has finally made public he wants traded. This has come to no surprise to any of us, as he’s been hinting for about a month now he wants more playing time. So, the question now is what we can get, and who would want Freel.

“I’m not very happy,” Freel said. “I think change is good for people. I think the expectations were for me to come over here and perform in a different way than I did. I don’t think I met those expectations as far as the way I performed in spring training.

“I don’t think I fit here. … I can’t control whatever they do at this point. I know it’s really putting a damper on my career, really hurting my career as far as getting a job next year. I’m pretty much just rolling with the punches.”

Personally, I believe that you will see Freel in a NL jersey within two months. I assume that Macphail will be looking for a young pitcher to stick down in the minors, but I don’t expect anybody good. I wouldn’t even be surprised if Macphail trades Freel for cash. The fact is, Freel is fairly old, and he’s not that good. Most of Baltimore, and myself, will not feel bad for a second once Freel is a gone.
