Ryan Freel is Classy

So in one of my many trips to Baltimore from New Jersey, I went to the Orioles FanFest on Saturday. It was a cool event, and I liked hearing all of the new players and their stories about coming to the club.  One guy I really liked was Ryan Freel, and it was just for one thing that he said.

“We realize that you pay our salaries and we’re grateful for that.”

This is one of the classiest, noblest things I’ve ever heard from an athlete, even though there is nothing special about it.  I just love to hear that these highly-payed stars know why we, the fans, are important and that they realize what we do for them.  I also loved how in shape Adam Jones looked, if his muscles are actually that big, I’m excited for the power numbers he can offer.

Also, sometime this week I am going to make a post about prospects who should see a call-up later in the season, like Matt Wieters and pitching prospects like Jake Arrieta and Troy Patton, so stay tuned for that.  The people here in Jersey are pumped for the Phillies game tonight, and although I really have no special passion for them, seeing the atmosphere even in a distant place like Piscataway for a World Series championship was cool.
