“Wieters Day” At Norfolk Tides Game

AUTHOR: Michael | IN: Minor Leagues, Orioles General, Prospects | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

If you check a few posts down, on Sunday I told you that I’d write a post about the Norfolk Tides game and Wieters, well I’m finally getting around to it. The game was called ” Wieters Day” and everybody got a picture of Matt Wieters when you entered the gate. I was excited because I thought since it was his day, that Wieters would be out early giving autographs for people who wanted it on his picture. Unfortunately, I was wrong, and only ended up getting autographs from Robby Hammock, and Jason Berken who by the way is a [...]

Koji Update

AUTHOR: Michael | IN: Orioles General | COMMENTS: None Yet

Speaking through his interpreter, Jiwon Bang, Orioles pitcher Koji Uehara said he felt fine after being hit by Gary Matthews’ line drive.
“I’m more upset about giving up that home run. No pain,” he said.
“Right away when I got hit, I couldn’t breathe for a moment. But after a while, I was fine. Everything stopped for a moment.”
Including a few hearts in the Orioles’ dugout.
“I couldn’t actually see it,” catcher Chad Moeller said. “I was shielded by the hitter and couldn’t actually see where it hit him. I haven’t looked at the play yet, but based on everybody else’s reaction, I’m [...]

Freel Wants Out

AUTHOR: Michael | IN: Orioles General | COMMENTS: None Yet

First off, I apologize that I haven’t been updating the blog much this past week, my schedule has been busy. Now, back to what I wanted to get to, Freel has finally made public he wants traded. This has come to no surprise to any of us, as he’s been hinting for about a month now he wants more playing time. So, the question now is what we can get, and who would want Freel.
“I’m not very happy,” Freel said. “I think change is good for people. I think the expectations were for me to come over here and perform [...]

MiLB Hitting Standouts and THE DRAFT!!!!

AUTHOR: Joe Barnes | IN: Minor Leagues, Prospects | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

So I’m back with the top position players so far this season in terms of performance, and to follow up the pitcher list, Oliver Drake is starting to shine.  Another scoreless 6 innings in his last outing, and the former Naval Academy pitcher, picked in the 43rd round, is turning out to be a great pick so far.  Lou Montanez would’ve been on this list, but his promotion cost him a spot.
Nolan Reimold, OF, AAA: Reimold has been an absolute beast this season.  In 60 AB, Reimold has 6 HRs and 19 RBI.  He has a .417 average and a .486 [...]

Good Times Ahead

AUTHOR: Michael | IN: Orioles General | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

I am really drained from sitting out in the sun all day. I will do a blog post tomorrow on how Wieters looked today, and the other prospects. I also have a kind of funny story to tell about Wieters, so be sure to check back tomorrow. I’m go to sleep now, ah that sounds so good.

Norfolk Tides Game

AUTHOR: Michael | IN: Games Threads, Minor Leagues, Prospects | COMMENTS: None Yet

I will be going to the Norfolk Tides game today, so I’ll be missing the Orioles game. I usually attend 15 tides games a year, but I wanted to get out while Wieters is still here. It will be a good match up today, since David Price is pitching for the Duram Bulls, so number one prospect will be facing number two.
Nolan Reimold has been hitting lights out so far this season. He’s batting .411 with a very solid performance in the outfield. Chris Tillman pitched two days ago, and has been looking sharp on the mound. Tillman, has a [...]

Screw You Sherrill

AUTHOR: Michael | IN: Games Threads | COMMENTS: None Yet

Wow, was tonight’s game a huge disappointment or what. Koji, pitched one hell of a game only giving up two runs in 6.2 innings. I don’t like to question the manager, but he only threw 92 pitches, I thought they should of left him in a little longer.
The offense did bad with guys on base, especially after 5th inning. We could of blew the game wide open a lot times this game, so many blown opportunities. Wiggington, was one of the main reasons we couldn’t pull ahead, this guy left so many men on base, and looked so bad it [...]

Adam Eaton Wins 6-2: What Just Happened?

AUTHOR: Michael | IN: Games Threads | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Adam Eaton pitched a excellent game today, I’ve been hard on him, but I got to give him his props. Eaton, pitched 7.1 innings allowing 2 runs and striking out 9 while giving up 0 walks. The Orioles coaching staff has been preaching all season to limit the walks, and just put the ball in play. Finally, Eaton listened and after some good pitches and great defense, he had his first good game in a long time. Oh, and also, manager Trembley, I’m still not on the Eaton bandwagon, I still don’t think he is that good, nor will last [...]

Game Thread: White Sox (8-6) @ Orioles (7-8)

Baltimore Orioles (7-8) Vs Chicago White Sox (8-6)
Thursday, April 23, 2009
7:05 pm ET
Camden Yards (Baltimore, MD)
Honestly, I hate doing these game threads when Adam Eaton is the pitcher. Because, the fact is, we totally suck with him on the mound. Even though Golden Dave believes “if” Eaton has a good game we are going to jump on his bandwagon, but we are not. We want Eaton gone, he sucks, and our team does not seem confident when he’s on the mound. So, for tonight’s game, I expect we have to score double digits to win, prove me wrong Eaton, but [...]

Top 20 Oriole Prospects – No. 19 – Pedro Beato

AUTHOR: Michael | IN: Prospects | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Pedro Beato, was a highly scouted prospect until the scouts learned he needed Tommy John surgery, in April of 04. He was originally selected by the Mets in the 17th round of the 2005 draft, but with the huge signing bonus they elected to let him go. In the 2006 draft, the Orioles selected him 31st overall, which many believe was way to high. I remember all the hype around in 2003 before the surgery, a lot of “experts” predicated him to be one of the best pitchers in the draft.
Beato, is a 6′5 and 210 pounds, with a very [...]
