With Chris Ray back this season it will be interesting to see who will take over the closer job. Last season Sherrill was a all-star caliber closer, but also put the team in many tough situations in the 9th. So far this year Ray has been looking good in spring training, and with his arm back to full strength may very well be our closer.
Even though Sherrill put himself in a lot of jams he was still able to work his way out of them. So if Ray is now our closer, Jim Johnson is our 7th inning guy where does that lead Sherrill in this bullpen. My best bet is he will be our backup closer, and our backup set up guy. We all know that the pitching won’t go deep in the games a lot so Ray and Johnson’s arms will tire quick. With Sherrill as our backup closer and 7th inning guy, that gives our bullpen much needed depth. But would Sherrill be okay with his roll, as he stated last season he wants to be the fulltime closer. We’ll see what happens after spring training.

I'd rather take Ray as closer. Sure Sherrill was good, but he was too streaky and risked the team too many games. If Ray doesn't do so well, we always have Johnson. The great thing about this year's team is the bullpen depth they have. Hopefully the starters can match their ability.
